Contraception and Sexual Health Services
What is the Contraception and Sexual Health Service?
The Contraception and Sexual Health Service is designed to give advice, information and health screening on a wide range of sexual health and other related health issues. The service offers specially designed clinics which cater for the needs of young people (Step-In) Home visits can be arranged for those people who cannot attend one of the clinics for health reasons.
Under 25’s services
Although the contraception and sexual health clinics are available to any age group, a clinic is operated which is specifically designed to cater for the needs of the under 25’s. This clinic offers the same services as described above, however uses different methods in order to achieve success. In addition other services which are targeted towards young people are provided.
Home Services
There is also a home service for those individuals who are unable to attend any of the clinics due to health problems. For more information about this or any other Contraception and Sexual Health Services, please contact:

What does the service do?
The service provides advice and information regarding contraception as well as prescribing the following contraception to clients:

Condoms (both female and male);

Caps and diaphragms;

Pill;
-
Injections;
-
Coils (IUD’s);
-
Intra-uterine systems (IUS);
-
Emergency contraception.
Information and advice is provided to clients regarding the following issues:

Potential vasectomy surgery;
-
Unplanned pregnancy;
-
Sexual problems;
In addition, health screening is provided for the following:

Pregnancy testing;
-
Breast awareness;
-
B-sure Chlamydia Screening.
Who can access the service?
This Service is designed for use by all age groups, however specific services are provided for young people (16 – 25’s).
How are patients referred to the Service?
There is no need for referral from a health-care professional in order to access the service. The 'Step In' clinics operate a ‘walk-in’ appointment system, but if you wish to acess one of the other clinics offered, you will need to make an appointment, please contact the clinics directly on one of the numbers below.
