WAYS THAT YOU CAN ORDER YOUR REPEAT PRESCRIPTION

Would patients please note that a full 48 hours are required to prepare Repeat Prescriptions by computer. Repeat prescriptions will be authorised for six months at a time. You will be allowed to obtain your repeat prescriptions without being seen by the doctor for the first five months, then you must see the doctor or Practice Nurse for a medication review before the sixth one is printed off. Only items listed as repeats can be ordered - do not add to the list!

The preferred options for obtaining your Repeat Prescription is as follows:

Drop your repeat slip off at the Reception Desk

Please tick the items you require. Please do not add items on to your Repeat Slip as these will not be issued.

Send your repeat slip by Post

Please tick the items you require and enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

Leave your Prescription on the Voice-mail

Between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.00am (using option 3) and stating your name, address, computer number and details of your repeat request. Please do not worry if you become confused whilst trying this method of ordering your prescription as the computer keeps a daily log of all the telephone numbers and times when patients ring in.

If we experience any problems deciphering your message, you will be contacted by a member of staff. The voice mail is emptied every morning around 10.00am. Your prescription will then be processed for you and will be ready for collection 48 hours after placing the call. This is an ideal method of ordering repeat prescriptions for those who are working.

Housebound Patients

If you are Housebound you can make arrangements with a pharmacy of your own choosing for ordering your Repeat Prescriptions. The pharmacist will then contact the surgery direct to obtain a repeat prescription and arrange for delivery of the items direct to your home.

Repeat Dispensing Method

Repeat dispensing is different from repeat prescriptions

If you are stable on your current medication you may be suitable to be considered for Repeat Dispensing by the practice. You will be required to complete a short form and have a medication review initially with the GP. If the GP thinks you are a suitable candidate for Repeat Dispensing then you will have to nominate a local Pharmacy from whom you will obtain your Repeat Medication on a monthly basis. Please note you cannot choose to change your Pharmacy half way through as all the Repeat Medication Prescriptions will be passed to the Phamacy of your choice.

Repeat dispensing is suitable for patients on up to 4 simple drugs that have been taken regularly for the preceding few months and are unlikely to be changed in dose.

Each month you will attend the Phamarcy you have chosen and the Pharmacist will ask you a few simple questions just to make sure that nothing has changed on your prescription or that you have not been in hospital recently. If any medication has been changed or added you will be refered back to the surgery for your Monthly Repeat Medication until such time as you become stable again.

Please note, controlled drugs and certain drugs that need regular monitoring due to their possible side effects cannot be issued by repeat dispensing.
