The team

The substance misuse team is made up of professional staff from various backgrounds, all with experience in different aspects of the drugs field.

What does the service provide?

The team provides treatment, confidential support, counselling and advice to users of illicit (illegal) drugs, their friends and relatives.

The team is also involved in training, advising and supporting other agencies and individuals who work with drug users.

Anyone is welcome to drop in to the service at 61-63 Preston New Road, Blackburn. A wide range of information leaflets are available, usually free of charge.

What areas do we cover?
Blackburn with Darwen Community Drug Team is based at Preston New Road in Blackburn and aims to provide a comprehensive treatment/support service to people with substance misuse problems from the Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley areas.

Who do we work with?

Blackburn with Darwen Community Drug Team works closely with GPs in the community to provide a treatment service for illicit (illegal) drug users.

The majority of people who use our services are seen by GP liaison officers in local health centres and GP practices.

The team works alongside professional and voluntary services that come into contact with drug users. The range of support given will depend on the individual and what is most appropriate for them.

We offer an open access referral system and welcome self-referrals. Referrals from other agencies can be made by letter, fax or telephone.
